Keys to Successful Timeshare Buying and Selling
by Jonathan Gibbs
Many people eagerly accept the offer of a short weekend trip to tour a Timeshare opportunity just to get a free getaway vacation. Of course, the price you pay for this “freebie” is that you must take a timeshare tour that usually lasts more than an hour. However, that supposed no-pressure, free tour often stretches into two hours or more, with the sales pitch droning on and on as the sales agent becomes increasingly annoying and more high-pressured than originally promised. There are timeshare companies out there that may be low-key, but more often than not, the tour and sales pitch leaves you feeling sorry that you ever agreed to sign up for this deal.
Almost every major hotel chain now offers luxury timeshare resorts in order to attract tourists who are guaranteed to come back again and again, year after year. For them, timeshares create guaranteed revenue for these hotel chains. Hotel corporations that now offer timeshares include Wyndham, Marriott, Hyatt, Ritz-Carlton, and Starwood.
Timeshare ownership can accommodate whatever size needed to make your family comfortable. They can range in size from studio up to a three bedroom or even larger units. Most units come with fully equipped kitchens, professionally decorated and fully furnished with towels, linens, dishes, silverware, dishes, TV’s and much more.
There are also many timeshare vacation exchange networks on the internet. One of them is RCI, which is one of the largest timeshare networks in the world. In order to become a member of this network, you must actually already own vacation time at an RCI affiliated resort. This company does not buy or sell timeshares. By becoming a member at RCI, this allows you to explore other vacation spots, if you do not want to go to your own resort accommodations. Basically, in dealing with this company, you would deposit your week with them of your current resort timeshare property and swap it for another destination.
Here are some important tips to remember if you decide you want to purchase a timeshare. Defiantly choose a spot that fits your lifestyle. Go check out the resort your interested in and take the tour. You will be able to see all the amenities that the resort offers and see if it suits your needs. Make sure to read all documents carefully and be clear in what the documents states. You don’t want to be confused if you’re a making a timeshare purchase, this is a significant purchase that needs to be understood in all aspects of the contract. Lastly, look into the resale market before you buy. Depending on the resort you are interested in there is almost always a unit available through the resale market for a fraction of the original price.
If you are already a timeshare owner and are anxious to sell, here are some ways to help facilitate that process. If you want your property to sell in a relatively short amount of time, do your homework and research what prices available timeshares are going for. Give your unit an attractive price that will encourage buyers, perhaps even multiple offers. It pays to advertise and you can even find places to advertise for free on the Internet. If you are really in a hurry to sell your timeshare, consider using the services of a professional timeshare broker. The extra price you pay for their services will be well worth it when they are able to sell your timeshare quickly and at the desired price.
